Five- day long 6th Chittagong Furniture Fair-2014 arranged by the divisional chapter of Bangladesh Furniture Industry Samity at GEC Convention centre in the city concluded yesterday afternoon .
The fair began on December 4 last and was inaugurated by the State Minister for Land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed as Chief Guest.
City Mayor M Manzoor Alam graced the concluding ceremony of the Fair as Chief Guest while the panel Mayor Hasan Md. Hasni attended it as special guest.
President of Chittagong divisional unit of the Furniture Samity AM Nuruddin presided over it. Among others, senior vice president of Bangladesh Dokan Malik Samity and Chairman of Chittagong Events Alhaj Shahabuddin, Director of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce Wahid Siraj and the leaders of the Samity spoke on the occasion. Convenor of the Mela committee Maksudur Rahman delivered address of welcome in the concluding function. City Mayor handed over the crests to the participating furniture companies , media partners and co-sponsors of the fair .
On behalf of the mela committee , President AM Nuruddin presented crest of the Furniture Association to City Mayor . Mela sources said , 19 furniture companies have participated in the Fair . Ctg News.com, Samay TV and Radio Athai are the media partners , sources said.
The chief guest in his brief deliverations emphasized the development of furniture industry aimed at exporting the products abroad. He assured all sorts of cooperation in coming days to arrange the fair in a wide space . The speakers in the concluding session urged the city mayor to arrange a wide space for the fair from next year.
