A 5-day long Furniture Fair-2015 will begin in the port city from tomorrow (Wednesday) . Bangladesh Furniture Industries Owners Association, Chittagong divisional unit will organize the 7th Furniture fair at GEC Convention Centre in city .
This was disclosed by the fair committee at a press meet held at Chittagong Press club on Saturday last. The fair will remain open for all without any entry fee from 10 am to 9 pm everyday.
The press meet wastold that aimed at attracting the local furnitures further in the country than the imported one, this fair is being organized. Besides, Govt, European Union and BFIOA jointly working for exporting the Bangladeshi furniture abroad. The written statement in the press meet was told that in last one year, export of furniture increased by 10% and furniture exported for about Tk.400 crores.
The speakers in the press meet said if govt relax import duty on raw materials and other accessories of furniture industries and other taxes, the export volume will go up gradually with desired level.
The press meet also said Taiwan, Korea, Japan and other foreign organizations are working in the country to develop the furniture industries. 31 furniture industries are expected to join the fair, sources said. Mentionable that Legacy Furnitures, Brothers Furnitures, Hatil Furnitures, GMG Plus Furniture, Vegas Furnitures, Luxury Furnitures and Freedom Furniture Industry are the co-sponsor of the fair, sources said. Besides, Bijoy TV, Ctg News.com and Radio Authoi will extend their services as Media Partners.
City Mayor AJM Nasiruddin will inaugurate the fair as chief guest and the President of Chittagong chamber of commerce & Industry Mahbubul Alam will attend it as special guest, the press meet was told.
On the other hand , Chairman of PHP Group Sufi Mizanur Rahman will grace the concluding session as Chief Guest.
Among others, Acting President of BFIOA , Ctg divisional chapter M. Nasiruddin, General Secretary SM Azam Khan, Vice President IM Iftikharuddin, Vice President Mujibur Rahman , Chairman of Chittagong Events Alhaj Md. Shahabuddin and the chief coordinator of the fair Md. Manzurul Islam were present in the press conference.
