Fundamental rights of every child must be protected: Acting CJ

Acting Chief Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah on Wednesday said that fundamental rights of every child must be protected.
 “We must bear in mind that the children who are homeless and have no
sustenance are of us and they need urgent cure and utmost care. The conditions they live in and the threats they face should drive us to work for them with urgency. If we succeed fulfilling their dreams, they will create a better world in the future,” he said.
Justice Wahhab Miah said this in a function organised on the occasion of the memorandum of understanding signed between the Supreme Court of Bangladesh and the UNICEF to strengthen juvenile court for protecting the best interest of children.
Justice Muhammad Imman Ali, a judge of the Appellate Division of the SC, and Chairman of the Supreme Court Special Committee for Child Rights, Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif, a judge of the High Court Division of the SC, and member of the Supreme Court Special Committee for Child Rights, Edouard Beigbeder, UNICEF Bangladesh Representative, and Md Zakir Hossain, Acting Registrar General of the SC, also spoke to the occasion.
Edouard Beigbeder and Zakir Hossain signed the extension of the MoU on behalf of UNICEF and the SC respectively. Judges of both the Appellate and High Court Divisions of the SC and high officials of the Law Ministry and SC were present on the occasion.
