The Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) will orgainse a ‘Fun Run’ event today (Thursday) on the occasion of the 17th Asian Games scheduled to be held from September 19 to October 4 in Incheon, Korea.
State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Begum Meher Afroz Chumki, MP, is expected to attend the rally as the chief guest. The ‘Fun Run’ is an Asian Games promotional event included for the first time, co-organised by Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and Incheon Asian Games Organising Committee (IAGOC).
The OCA and IAGOC already launched the ‘Fun Run’ in 22 countries of Asia and Bangladesh is the 23rd country to become a part of it. The ‘Fun Run’ aims to raise awareness on health, hygiene and environmental issues. The main motto of this event is to encourage participants of all ages, especially the youth.
The colorful ‘Fun Run’ rally, to be participated by students of schools and colleges, athletes, sports organizers, general people, will start from Shishu Academy at 8.30 am and will conclude at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
In this regard, a press conference was held on Thursday at the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) conference room to give details of the event.
BOA secretary general Syed Shahed Reza thanked the delegates of OCA and IAGOC for visiting Bangladesh to promote the event.
The BOA secretary general said: “As our motto and destination is the same ‘Inshallah’ we will be able to achieve the goal together.”
OCA delegates Vahid Kardany and Nayaf Sraj and IAGOC delegates Hyunsook Shin, Byung Jin Yu, Jeongseok Pang, Dong Seok Seo and Jung Ghyu Su were present at the press conference.
