A young man was hacked to death allegedly by his friends in the city’s Hazaribagh on Wednesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Ilyas Hossain, 17, son of Abdur Rahman. He was a day-labourer, police said.
Hazaribagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Alimuzzaman said, “Ilyas was called by friends to discuss an important issue at about 7:00am. He, and his friends suddenly started altercation between them in the area. Following the quarrel, his friends stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving Ilyas critically injured.”
Passersby rescued Ilyas and took him to Ganaswasthya Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 8:15am, the police official said.
A case was filed in this connection, the OC said.
The body has been sent to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy, he said.
