Awami League (AL) Netrakona district unit and it’s front organizations and different socio-cultural and political organizations along with local people celebrated the historic 7th March on Tuesday with a fresh vow to materialise the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The Day’s programmes were formally started here with hoisting of national flag and party flag atop of the district AL office and placing of floral wreaths at the portraits of father of the nation Bangbandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four national leaders at the office in the morning.
President of Netrakona district Awami League Motiur Rahman Khan, Chairman of Netrakona Zila Parishad Prasanta Ray, Mayor of Netrakona Pourasava Nazrul Islam Khan and other district-level leaders of the party and it’s front organizations joined the inaugural programme .
As part of the programs, the historic 7th march speech of Bangbandhu was played by the loud speakers from all the offices of the AL and it’s front organizations and different other organizations through out the Day.
Sylhet Correspondent reports: The ‘Historic 7 March’, a day when Bangalees’ undisputed leader Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman delivered his epoch-making speech of independence before a mammoth rally at the historic Race Course Maidan in the city (now Suhrawardy Udyan) in 1971, is being observed in Sylhet with due respect on Tuesday.
The ruling Awami League and different socio-political and cultural organisations are holding various programmes to mark the day.
Sylhet AL’s programmes include hoisting the national and party flags at Chowhatta at 6:30am and placing wreaths by party leaders at the portrait of Bangabandhu at the Sylhet Central Shohid Minar.
Central AL Leader Bodor Uddin Kamran, Sylhet District AL President Lutfur Rahman, Secretary Shofiqur Rahman Chowdhury, City Secretary Asad Uddin Ahmed and Jubo leage BCL leader also attend here.
Jhenaidah Correspondent says: The historical March 7 was observed in Jhenaidah with befitting manner on Tuesday. Bangladesh Awami League Jhenaidah district unit chalked out colourful programmes to make the day a success.
The day was inaugurated through hoisting of national flag at the district unit office of the party by Jhenaidah-1 constituency (Sailkupa) lawmaker Abdul Hyee in the morning.
A procession was brought out which paraded the town and ended at the Muzib Chattar. Lawmaker Abdul Hyee, AL Jhenaidah district unit general secretary, also municipality mayor Saidul Karim Mintu and a number of leaders of front organizations Juba League, Krishak League, Sechchhasewak League, Chhatra league spoke there.
Later a discussion meeting was also held at Jhenaidah Shilpakala Academy.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: Local units of Bangladesh Awami League and front organisations observed the historic March 7, a red-letter day in the history of the Bangalees’ long arduous freedom struggle, in a befitting manner with fresh vow to materialize the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Different other political parties, social, cultural and professional bodies also chalked out elaborate programmes marking the day. The day’s programmes began with the hoisting of national and party flags atop the party office buildings and placing wreaths at the portraits of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four other national leaders in the morning.
Former Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation and Awami League Central Committee leader AHM Khairuzzaman Liton joined the programmes. Other local leaders including Bazlur Rahman, Meer Iqbal, Rafiquddin, Shafiqur Rahman, Dr Sheikh Tabibur Rahman and Habibur Rahman were present on the occasion.
Marking the day, most of the city offices of the party played the historic 7th March speech of Bangabandhu throughout the day alongside holding of discussions.
AL City unit held discussion at its office this noon highlighting significance of the historic speech with its President AHM Khairuzzaman Liton in the chair. Front ranking leaders of the unit spoke at the discussion. Discussants said the tantalizing speech of Bangabandhu literally had a sparkling effect on the entire population in East Pakistan, now Bangladesh, and they became united under his capable and farsighted leadership to bravely fight for liberating the motherland from Pakistani rule.
