Fresh oil price cut soon

The government on Thursday dropped hints that petrol and diesel prices would be cut further if the downward slide in international crude prices continues.
“We will look at crude oil prices in the international market while going for further reduction of fuel oil prices,” State Minister for Energy Nasrul Hamid Bipu said this during an anti-adulteration drive in the capital.
“If possible the price cut will be done in the first week of October, and if it not possible, then the reduction would be made by the end of the month,” he added.
The state minister also said the government is now assessing the possible impact of further fuel price cut on consumers.
The government on April 24 cut the prices of octane and petrol by Tk 10 a litre and diesel and kerosene by Tk 3 per litre to pass on to consumers the benefit of low fuel prices on the international market.
On March 31, the government cut the price of furnace oil, mostly used by industries and power plants.
