Habiganj Correspondent :In span of about three months, a huge cache of arms, ammunitions and explosives were recovered again from the Satchhari National Park at Chunarughat in Habiganj district on Tuesday. Earlier, a huge cache of the arms and ammunitions were also recovered from the same reserve forest in the first week of June this year. Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive recovered the firearms and ammunitions from the dense forest situated alongside with Indian border. During the drive, the elite force found nine SMG, one SNC, one beta gun, one auto rifle, six SLR, two LMG, one slipper stereoscope sight and 2,400 rounds of ammunition in two containers hiding in two holes in the deep, said Mufti Mahmud Khan, director at Legal and Media Wing of the RAB. Addressing a press briefing at the headquarters of Crime Prevention Company (CPC-2) at Srimangal in Moulvibazar, the RAB official said that they were yet to be confirmed who kept the firearms and bullets in the deep forest. It will be exposed after examining intelligence information, he added. He, however, said that the operation would continue.On Sunday, the force conducted another drive in the forest to recover firearms and ammunitions.On secret information, a team of RAB-9 took position in the forest in the early hours of Tuesday. They conducted a drive in a house at Tipra Palli. They dug out soil from the veranda of the house which belonged to Ranjit Dev Barman, brother of headman Chitta Ranjan Dev Barman. Later, they found the arms and ammunitions. On June 3, the elite force first recovered huge arms and ammunitions from the reserve forest. The recovered firearms included some 200 rocket launchers, huge anti-tank explosives, mortar shells, and chargers of rocket launchers.
