Staff Reporter :The BNP-led 20-party alliance has called another spell of countrywide 72-hour hartal from today (Sunday) alongside the ongoing blockade in protest against ‘arrest of BNP Joint-Secretary General Salahuddin Ahmed’ and demanding fresh polls under a non-party government. Beginning at 6:00am, the shutdown will continue till 6:00am on Wednesday. BNP’s another Joint-Secretary General Barkatullah Bulu, on behalf of the 20-party alliance, in a statement announced the hartal on Saturday. The hartal is also meant to protest ‘forced disappearance, killing, torture, abduction, and mass arrest of the leaders and activists of the 20-party alliance’.Barkatullah Bulu called upon the leaders and workers of the 20-party to observe the hartal spontaneously. Condemning the government’s apathy to trace Salahuddin, even after passing of eleven days of his disappearance, he demanded immediate and unhurt return of the missing leader. The alliance has enforced a series of general strikes across the country on all working days since February 1. The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations are being held on Fridays and Saturdays due to the shutdowns.
