BSS, Dhaka :
A valiant Freedom Fighter (FF) on Sunday submitted his deposition against Engineer Abdul Jabbar, narrating the heinous crimes against humanity committed by the former Jatiya Party MP during the War of Liberation.
Bachchu Akon, 62, of village Fuljhuri under Mothbaria Police Station in Pirojpur, testified as 20th prosecution witness (PW) at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1.
Akon, commander of Muktijoddha Sangsad Mothbaria upazila unit, said Jabbar was an influential leader of pro-Pakistan Muslim League and formed Peace Committee unit in Mothbaria and became its chairman.
“He also formed Razakar Bahini in our locality and made his relative Iskandar Mridha, its chairman. Acting on the order of Jabbar, this anti-liberation force carried out crimes like murder, looting, arson, conversion in and around Mothbaria,” said Akon.
“On May 16, 1971, Jabbar from a public meeting asked Iskandar Mridha to kill FFs Abdur Razzak Biswas and Motaleb Sharif. Following the order, Razakar cadres led by Mridha raided our village and shot at Sharif and Razzak. Sharif died on the spot and Razzak was fatally injured. He succumbed three days later,” the witness added.
Akon said on October 6, 1971, Jabbar held a meeting with his cohorts from anti-liberation forces in the house of his in-laws.
