Many books published by the school text book board for free distribution among the students are now selling at book stalls in the port city.
The Detective Branch (DB) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) and Kotowali thana police recovered 5,371 pieces of school books from a house at Sayed Building at KB Abdus Sattar road at Rahamatgonj area in the port city on Tuesday night.
Sources said, acting on a tip off, a team of DB police along with Kotowali thana police raided the dwelling house of one Niamot Ullah at Sayed Building at KB Abdus Sattar road at Rahamatgonj area. Police recovered5,371 pieces of school books which were published for free distribution in the schools.
Police could not nab Nimaot Ullah from the spot as he mange to escaped. A case was filed in this connection.
According to sources, although the book festival in the schools in Chittagong coloured the first day of the New Year among the students and thousands of the students got the new books of new classes, many of the students in Chittagong are yert to get all books.
