Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) have launched two special buses to help ease sufferings of the city dwellers during Ramzan .
The buses would operate from 4pm to 8pm every day, between Sholashahar Number 2 Gate and Barik Building in city without charging any fare.
CMP Commissioner Abdul Jalil Mandal inaugurated the ‘Saujanya Service’ at city’s Sholashahar Number 2 Gate on Monday.
The decision came after the commissioner had seen many people waiting in that area for transport recently .At the inauguration ceremony Mandal said the flow of passengers became high before and after Iftar during Ramadan but buses were few and far between.
“Police have taken the task on humanitarian grounds to ease passengers’ sufferings,” he said.
Six seats in each bus will be reserved for women and children. Mandal said male passengers should leave their seats to females when the number of the later became high.
