The fourth three-day “AKS & Shah Cement Cup Golf Tournament -2014” ended through prize giving ceremony at Rangpur Cantonment here on Saturday night, a press release said. According to Rangpur Golf Club sources, the Shah Cement Industries Limited, an enterprise of Abul Khayer Steel Mills Limited, sponsored the tournament held on the Golf Ground of Rangpur Cantonment. A total of 101 contestants including 55 males, 11 females, 13 junior and 22 sub-junior golfers participated in the male, female, junior and sub-junior groups of the three-day tournament respectively. Golfer Dr Zaved Akhter became the champion and Colonel Mahbub Anwar runner-up through securing the first and second position respectively in the male group of the tournament.
In the female group, Nasrine Haque Bobby and Brigadier General Anwar Rashid secured the first and second position to become the champion and runner-up respectively. Besides, Tahmid in the junior group and Rupayod Nuzha became the champions in the sub-junior groups respectively. General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 66 Infantry Division and Rangpur Area Commander Major General Salahuddin Miazi distributed prizes among the winners at the concluding ceremony. High-ranking military officials, officials of Rangpur Golf Club and participating golfers and were present, among others, in the prize giving ceremony.
