Police arrested four youths on charge of gang-raping a 17-year-old after abduction in Thakurgaon Sadar upazila on Saturday night.
The arrestees are: Babul alias Babu (19), Sohel (20), Poidul (22) and Ramjan (19). All are inhabitants of Sadar and Ranishankoil upazilas.
They were arrested from different areas after victim’s mother filed a case with Sadar Police Station, early Monday, accusing six persons, Tanvirul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Thakurgaon Police Station, said.
Citing case statement, the OC said the victim got acquainted with Babul a month ago. On Saturday afternoon, she along with another 12-year-old girl went to a nearby bridge to meet Babul.
Then, Babul along with other accused rapists, forcibly took the victim to a mango orchard nearby and raped her. Before that, they confined the 12-year-old in a house nearby, the OC told our correspondent.
The accused rapists fled the scene on Sunday morning. By this time, the 12-year-old girl escaped from the house where she was confined and found the victim in the mango orchard.
They lost their way while trying to return home and went to Maharaja Bazar in Ranishankoil upazila. On information, their family members-who were searching for them-rescued them and took them home on Sunday afternoon.
Ziaul Haque, investigation officer of the case, said the accused admitted their crime during primary interrogation and police would produce them before a Thakurgaon court on Monday afternoon.
