Four workers were killed and three others injured in a mudslide while they were extracting stones from a quarry in Bholaganj area of Companiganj upazila on Sunday night.
The deceased were identified as Ruhul Amin, 22, and Motibur, 32, residents of Muradpur area, Ashik Ali, 30, a resident of
Cholerbando village in Dakhshin Sunamganj upazila and Atabur, 40, a resident of Kolokka village in Jamalganj upazila. Quoting locals, Shafiqur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Companiganj Police Station, said the mud of the stone quarry collapsed on the workers while they were extracting stones by operating generator around 9:30pm. On information, police recovered the bodies of Ruhul Amin and Motibur around 11:30pm.
Police also retrieved two other bodies from the quarry on Monday morning.
