Four tobacco farmers were kidnapped allegedly by armed terrorists in Naikhongchhari Upazila in district early Saturday.
The victims are: Abdul Aziz, 16, son of Nurul Alam, of Ramu upazila, Abdur Rahim, 25, son of Abdur Rahman, Shah Alam, 40, son of Rashid Ahmed, of Thimchhari area, and Abu Syed, 40, son of late Ali Hossain, of Majhirkata area in Cox’s Bazar district.
According to local people, a group of 10 to 12 armed terrorists kidnapped the four farmers, who were staying at a tobacco field in Ledu Buri Char, at gun point around 1am.
Fear spread among rubber garden workers and local residents after the incident.
Officer in-Charge of Naikhongchhari Police Station Md Alamgir said they have heard the incident but could not confirm.
