Four-storey building tilts in city

Staff Reporter :A four-storey residential building was tilted in the city’s Mohammadpur area on Saturday afternoon.Residents of the building has been evacuated in the evening.Sajeeb Sarkar, Station Officer of Mohammadpur Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD), said that the building was tilted on the Tajmahal Road area around 3:30pm which also created panic among the residents of the building and its neighbouring buildings.On information, fire fighters rushed to the spot and evacuated the building to avert any unpleasant incident, he said.”Although we haven’t found any crack yet, we suspect that cracks might have developed in the building,” he said.Officials of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) also visited the spot.Ariful Islam, a local resident, said that the West side of the building was attached with a nearby building.Mohammadpur Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Noyon said that the four-storey house 19/4 in Block-C on Tajmahal Road has been tilted suddenly.He further said that police and fire service people are staying on the spot.The casualty could not be known immediately.Additional police personnel were deployed in the area to meet the emergency.
