Four of a family hacked to dead in Satkhira

DC takes the duty of looking after the only surviving minor girl

A couple and their two children have been hacked to death by unknown miscreants, but one of their minor children was still alive in Kalaroa upazila of Satkhira district.
The gruesome murder puzzled the entire area and made people speechless.
Getting the information, Police later recovered the throat-slit bodies from Khalsi village under Holtola union of the upazila early Thursday.
The victims were identified as Shahinur Rahman, 40, his wife Sabina Khatun, 35, and their son Siam Hossain, 10, and daughter Taslima, 8, of Khalishagram village in the upazila.
Haran Paul, Officer-in-charge of Kalaroa Police Station confirmed the news to the media and said that Chairman of Helatala union parishad Moazzem Hossain informed us about the incident around 6:30am on Thursday that some robbers killed four members of a family during robbery in a house in this union.
A team of police led by the OC went to the spot and bodies were sent to the Satkhira Sadar Hospital for autopsy, OC said.
The OC said that all four members were hacked to death and nothing was missing from the house.
It seemed that the incident took place in the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday and they were murdered in a planned way, OC further added.
Victim’s younger brother Raihanul Islam, who was sleeping in a nearby house, said he heard groaning from his brother’s house in the early morning.
When he went there, he found the door locked from the outside, after not getting the response from the inner side, he entered the room after breaking the lock and saw the shocking incident.
Raihanul said one of the children was still alive when he went to the spot.
He said that they had a dispute with some neighbours over land recently.
After the incident, Additional DIG of Khulna Division Nahid, District Police Super Mostafijur Rahman, Additional Police Super Mirza Salauddin and others members of law enforcers visited the spot.
District Police Super Mostafijur Rahman said that the reason behind the incident could not be known immediately but investigation is on.
Meanwhile, DC K M Anisur Rahman has taken the duty of looking after the only surviving minor girl of that incident. On his order, minor Maria Sultana later was taken away by local UP member Nasima Khatun.
