Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) of Koyra West Zone here on Monday recovered four mowals (Honey collectors) along with two country made boats from Andermanik area, adjacent to Monderkhal under Koyra upazila in the Sundarbans.
Staff Officer of Coast Gaurd Lt. M Fariduzzaman said, on secret information, a special team of BCG rushed to the spot and recovered the boats and the mowals from the area.
Sensing the presence of members of BCG, a gang of dacoits including their leader Aminul managed to escape, leaving behind the two boats and mowals.
Earlier, Aminul’s gang abducted the mowals from the Sundarbans and demanded Taka four lakh as ransom from their family members for their release.
Coast Gaurd handed over the mowals and boats at Andermanik Forest Office, he said.
