Four persons were killed in separate road accidents in Barishal and Sylhet on Wednesday and Tuesday .
Two motorcycle rider friends were killed after coach of Shakura Paribahon on Barishal -Dhaka Highway hit their motorcycle at Rampatty area under Babuganj upazila of Barishal on Wednesday.
The dead victim were identified as Suruj Haoladar,32, son of Abdus Salam and his friend Md. Murad Hossain,29, son of Md. Alam from Dehergati under Babuganj upazila, said Inspector Abdur Rahman Mukur, officer in charge of Babuganj police station.
Quoting witnesses police said when the motorcycle tried to take a u-turn on the highway, they night coach of Shakura Paribahon plying on Barishal-Dhaka route hitting the motorcycle dashed with a road side tree.
Local people rushed to the spot operated rescue operation. The crushed motorcycle went under the bus and Suruj died at the spot and Murad declared as after dead by the attending physician after brought to Barishal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital, police sources said.
Police detained the bus, but failed to detain any staff and sent the dead bodies to morgue for post mortem, Inspector Mukur added.
Sylhet Bureau adds: At two people were killed as a pick-up van fell into a road side ditch at Tetli area on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Daskhin Surma of Sylhet on Tuesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Shamir Uddin, 30, owner of pick-up van, son of Anshab Ullah, hailing from Patli union of Jagannathpur upazila and pick-up van driver Mithu Sutradhar, 23, son of Provod Sutrodhar, of Mollar gaon village of the same upazila.
Locals said that the accident took place when a Sylhet Kadamtali-bound pick-up van from Jagannathpur fell into the road side ditch at the area after its driver lost control over the steering, leaving two people dead on the spot.
Later, police rescued the bodies and sent to hospital morgue for autopsies.
Shiplu, sub-inspector (SI) of Daskhin Surma Police Station confirmed the matter.
