Sinha killing: Four cops among seven placed on remand

A Cox’s Bazar court on Wednesday placed seven people, including four policemen, on a seven-day remand each in a case filed over the killing of Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan in police firing.
The policemen who were remanded are assistant sub-inspector Liton Mia, and constables Safanur Rahman, Kamal Hossain and Abdullah.
The rest three are Mohammad Ayas, M Nurul Amin and Mohammad Nazimuddin of Marishbunia under Baharchhara union of Teknaf. All of them are witnesses in cases filed by police over the killing of the former army official.
They publicised in the area after the murder of Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan that he was a robber.
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested Ayas, Nurul Amin and Nazimuddin on Tuesday.
Earlier, the court placed former officer-in-charge of Teknaf Model Police Station Pradip Kumar Das, sub-inspector
 Liakat and one other on a seven-day remand while directed for interrogating four other policemen at the jail gate over the killing of Sinha.
Sinha was killed in police firing at Baharchhara police check-post in Teknaf upazila on July 31.
His elder sister Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous filed a case with Teknaf Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on August 5.
Seven police personnel, including Pradip and Liakat Ali, were suspended in connection with the killing.
