Four cheats held with 123 fake freedom fighter cards

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested four members of an organised gang of presumed cheats from Modern Mour area in Rangpur city and Dimla upazila of Nilphamari on Thursday night.
“An operational team of the Crime Prevention Specialised Company (CPSC) of RAB-13 conducted raids and arrested them from different places,” a press release issued today by Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-13 Flight Lieutenant Mahmud Bashir Ahmed said.
The arrested persons are Md Shafiar Rahman, 52, of Nilphamari, Md Ibrahim Mian, 51, Md Sadek Ali, 51, and Md Joynal Abedin, 62, of Rangpur districts.
Earlier, the elite force conducted an investigation following an allegation and found that some cheats were realizing money from common people promising them to provide freedom fighters’ cards to enable them in getting freedom fighters’ allowance.
“The elite force also seized 123 fake freedom fighters’ cards, 20 fake stamps, 14 money receipt books and other illegal documents from the possessions of the arrested persons.
During primary interrogation, the arrested people admitted that he had been making fake freedom fighters’ cards and cheating common people through providing the same to them and realising huge money.
“After filing a regular case against the arrested persons in this connection, the elite force handed him over to Kotwali police station Rangpur Metropolitan Police today,” the release said.
