Founding anniversary of BPSC celebrated

The founding anniversary of Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) was celebrated in the city on Saturday with a pledge to improve the living standard of the people by eradicating curse of poverty. Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful Islam as the chief guest inaugurated the main programme of the day by releasing balloons and pigeons on the BPSC premises in the city. Senior Secretary of the ministry Dr. Md. Mozammel Haque Khan joined as the special guest, said a PSC release. Later, the minister addressed a discussion with PSC Chairman Dr. Muhammed Sadique in the chair. PSC Member Professor Dr Abdul Zabber Khan presented a key-note paper on ‘Expectations and Attainments of the Republic from the BPSC’ highlighting its activities in recruiting skilled manpower for the public administration since the country’s independence, the release added. Addressing the discussion, Syed Ashraf lauded the activities of the PSC in recruiting skilled manpower for the public administration. He hoped that the PSC would continue its efforts in this regard to improve the living standard of the country’s people alleviating poverty. A cultural function was also held at the same venue with participation of PSC’s officials and staffs. The BPSC started its journey on April 8, 1972 by Presidential Order (PO)-34. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman promulgated the order.
