Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee will observe its 22nd founding anniversary today. On this day in 1992, a total of 101 eminent citizens of the country formed the committee to raise their collective voice for war crimes trial and a ban on communal politics in the country, a press release said.
Shaheed Janani Jahanara Imam, writer of the book titled ‘Ekattorer Dinguli’, was selected as convenor of the committee. To mark the day, a discussion on “Movement of Shaheed Jahanara Imam: doings of government and citizens” will be held in Poet Sufia Kamal auditorium of National Museum here today. Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Advocate Anisul Haque, MP, is expected to attend the discussion as the chief guest.
President of Bangladesh Rukhe Darau Prof Anisuzzaman, President of Udichi Shilpigoshti Kamal Lohani, Convenor of Bangladesh Itihas Sammilon Prof Muntasir Mamun, founder president of Karmajibi Nari Shirin Akhtar and spokesman of Gonojagaron Mancha Dr Imran H Sarker will attend the discussion with advisor of the Nirmul Committee Prof Borhan Uddin Khan in the chair. Acting president of the committee Shahriar Kabir will deliver inaugural address.
