The 35th founding anniversary of Bishwa Shahitya Kendra was celebrated at a function in the city on Friday. The function was inaugurated by Professor Abdullah Abu Sayed, founder of the organisation.
Finance minister AMA Muhith speaking at the function paid glowing tributes to Professor Abu Sayed for creating reading habit among the people. He profusely praised Professor Abu Sayed for his laudable service to the society.
Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid briefly speaking at the function showered praise on
Professor Abu Sayed for his efforts in spreading reading habit among the people for the last 35 years. He expressed the hope that Bishwa Shahitya Kendra would continue to spread light of education among the people across the country.
Professor Abu Sayed in his speech expressed his gratitude to all those who have brought the organisation to its present position. He hoped that he would continue to get such cooperation from all also in future.
The day long programmes concluded through a cultural function, which was participated by some eminent artistes.
Professor Anisuzzaman, Samakal Editor Golam Sarwar, Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, secretary, Ministry of Public Administration, Syed Hasan Imam, Ramendu Majumder, Professor Manjurul Islam, Jewel Aich among others, were present at the function.
