Founding anniv of AJL observed

The 43rd founding anniversary of Awami Juba League was observed with elaborate programmes yesterday. In observance of the day, leaders and workers of AJL placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum and at the grave of its founder-chairman Sheikh Fazlul Huq Moni at Banani in the morning. They also offered fateha at his grave for eternal peace of the departed soul.

AJL president Ismail Chowdhury Samrat and Dhaka City (North) AJL president Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil were present, among others.
On this day in 1972, Awami Juba League (AJL) was floated at the instruction of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and under the leadership of Sheikh Fazlul Huq Moni at a youth convention held at the auditorium of the Institution of Engineers in the city.
The youth organisation was floated with a motto to follow the secular and democratic ideologies of Bangabandhu with a view to involve the country’s youth force in the struggle for building an exploitation-free Bangladesh.
