The foundation stone of a new Shaheed Minar was laid at Chittagong University on Thursday.
CU Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury laid the foundation stone.
As controversy arose against the existing Shaheed Minar of the university, alleging that it was built in shape of a “Pakistani monument”, the CU authorities decided to build a new Shaheed Minar adjacent to the present one.
The detained hailed from Satkania and Karnaphuli , RAB sources said.
