Renowned social worker and gold medalist ex-UP Chairman of Moishadi union under Chandpur Sadar Sheikh Abdul Mannan passed away at his residence at Taltola area in the district town recently after protracted illness due to old age ailments.
He was 85. He left behind his wife, two sons, five daughters and a host of friends and relatives to mourn his sudden death.
He was respected by all for his amiable behavior and honesty in his works.
He was elected UP Chairman of Moishadi Union in Sadar Upazila for three consecutive terms. Later on , in recognition of his excellent performances, he was awarded Gold Medals three times by the Ministry of Local Govt. He was once involved in JP politics during Ershad regime and was elected as District Convener of JP.
