Former State Minister for Housing and Public Works Advocate Afsar Uddin Ahmed Khan, 81, has passed away. Kapasia Upazila Parishad (UP) chairman Advocate Md. Amanat Hossain confirmed the matter.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of former State Minister Advocate Afsar Uddin Ahmad Khan.
In a condolence message, the prime minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
Afsar Uddin, younger brother of Bangladesh’s first prime minister Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad. Born in Dardaria village of Kapasia upazila in Gazipur, Afsar Uddin’s father’s name is Md. Yasin Khan and mother Meherunnesa Khan.
Advocate Afsar Uddin Ahmed Khan was elected MP from Gazipur-4 (Kapasia) constituency with the nomination of Bangladesh Awami League in the 7th parliamentary election of 1996. Later in that year, he was nominated for State Minister for Housing and Public Works, however, resigned six months later.
