The first death anniversary of Shamsur Rahman Sharif, former president of Pabna district Awami League and land minister has been observed. He died at the United Hospital in Dhaka on April 2 last year after long illness.
On the occasion of the death anniversary, a prayer was organized on Friday near Jumma town and in the village house Laxmikunda. Awami League central information and research sub-committee member and minister’s son Shakibur Rahman Sharif Kanak and another son Awami League leader Galibur Rahman Sharif addressed the prayer meeting.
They discussed the politics of their father and wished forgiveness of the late father to all present and hoped for the cooperation of all. Pabna-4 MP Bir Muktijoddha Nuruzzaman Biswas, Pabna District Council Chairman Rezaur Rahim Lal, Ishwardi Municipal Mayor Ishaq Ali Malitha, Pabna Municipal Mayor Sharif Pradhan and Atgharia Municipal Mayor Shahidul Islam Ratan, former Municipal Mayor Abul Kalam Azad Mint Ishwardi Upazila Press Club President Touhid Akter Panna and about 15,000 leaders and activists of different levels, relatives and well-wishers were present at the prayer. Later, tabarak was distributed.
