The second death anniversary of former Pabna District Awami League president, former MP and former land minister Alhaj Shamsur Rahman Sharif Dilu, who was elected five times in a row in Ishwardi-Atgharia (Pabna-4) constituency, was celebrated on Saturday.
On the occasion of the death anniversary, grave visit, Qur’an recitation, Bad Johar Doa and Milad Mahfil and distribution of food among the needy were organized by the family at their residence on Alibardi Road in Ishwardi town and at their village home Laxmikunda.
Sakibur Rahman Sharif Konak, a member of the Awami League’s information and research sub-committee and son of the minister, said in the Doa Mahfil, “My father has worked for the welfare of the people all his life.” Milad and special prayer mahfils have been organized with people of all classes and professions in the area. He appealed to all to pray for peace and forgiveness of the soul of the late father.
The prayer mahfil was attended by people’s representatives of different levels, leaders of political parties, leaders of Awami League and allied organizations, journalists and locals.
It may be mentioned that former minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif Dilu passed away on April 2, 2020 at a private hospital in the capital due to old age.
