A Dhaka court on Sunday placed former eorange chief operating officer Md Nazmul Alam Russel on a four-day remand in connection with a case filed on around Tk1,100 crore embezzlement.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Bakar Siddique passed the order after Aminul Islam, inspector of Gulshan Police Station and investigation officer of the case, produced him before the court with a 10-day remand plea for interrogation.
According to the case details, the owners of eorange: Sonia Mehjabin, her husband Masukur Rahman, Amanullah, Bithi Akhter and Kawser, stand accused of embezzling Tk1,100 crore.
Earlier on August 16, consumers of the troubled e-commerce platform eorange filed a case against its owners with the Gulshan police station in the capital.
On August 17, the same court sent Sonia Mehjabin and her husband Masukur Rahman to jail after they surrendered before the court seeking bail in the case.
On August 18, eorange announced further delay of deliveries, just a day after two of the owners were sent to prison.
After more than a week on August 26, the VAT Intelligence Division filed another case against eorange for evading VAT worth Tk13 lakh.
