A former leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League, student wing of the ruling Awami League, beat up a Rajshahi University student and demanded Tk 10,000 from him as extortion confining him in a room.he victim student is Nasir Uddin, a first year student of islamic history and culture department.
In replying to a question, Nasir told The New Nation that, on last Friday was his birthday. For this, he and her cousin, a student of Rajshahi Collage, went in front of his mess at Meherchandi area, adjacent to the university, to wish her recently.
‘When I was talking with her in front of my mess, three local youths–one named with Raju suddenly asked us about what we were doing, and asked to go to my room’, he said. ‘As I protested, they slapped me and forcibly took me and my cousin into my room at the mess where they beat us, took our mobile phones, and captured some of photo of ours, and threatened to make the photo viral in social media if we do not pay them Tk 20,000’, he added.
‘The three of them confined us in the room for three hours, molested my cousin, and gave us .Nasir further said that he was suffering from insecurity after the incident and could not dare to return on his mess again. He submitted a written complaint to the university proctor office seeking life security on Monday.
