Police arrested a former leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League on Friday night in a case filed for allegedly raping a tenth grader in Raipura upazila of Narsigndi.
Asadul Haque Chowdhury Shakil, president of Raipura upazila unit BCL, was arrested from a restaurant near Bishwa Road intersection in Sarail upazila of Brahmanbaria last night, said Mohsin Quadir, officer-in-charge (OC) of Raipura Police Station.
Shakil, who was expelled from the BCL for violating party discipline, remined absconding since the rape incident, our Brahmanbaria correspondent reports quoting the police official.
He was sent to jail by a district court this noon, added OC Mohsin Quadir.
