The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Sunday sent seven notices to one former MP and one incumbent MP and their family members asking them to submit their movable and immovable wealth statements to the commission, said ACC Public Relation Officer (PRO).
The notices have been issued to Aslamul Haque, MP of Dhaka-14 Constituency and his wife Maksuda Haque, and Abdul Jabbar, former MP of Satkhira-2, his wife Firuza Begum, three sons Faruque Hossain, Sayed Hossin and Mahbub Hossain.
Aslamul Haque and Abdul Jabbar are among seven former and incumbent MPs and ministers of ruling side, who are under the investigation of ACC now on the basis of a complaint that they have amassed huge wealth beyond their known sources of income.
As per recommendation of ACC investigation team on Sunday, the commission approved of serving the notices.
Few minutes later of the approval, the notices signed by ACC Deputy Director Syed Iqbal were sent to the address of the said people.
The notices asked them to send their wealth statements, written response to some queries and relevant documents within seven working days.
The other MPs and ministers, against whom the anti-graft watch dog is examining, evidents are Prof Dr A F M Ruhal Haque, former Health and Planning Minister, Abdul Mannan Khan, former State Minister for Housing and Public Works, Mahbubur Rahman, former State Minister for Water and Resources, Enamul Haque, former MP from Rajshahi Constituency-4 and Abdur Rahman Bodi, MP from Chittagong Constituency-4 [Ukhia-Teknaf].
The investigation officials are Deputy Directors (DD) Mirza Zahidul Alam, Khairul Huda, Ahsan Ali, Nasiruddin, Syed Fayad Alam, Tahsinul Haque and Assistant Director Masudur Rahman.
Earlier, in January 2013, the ACC launched probes into the allegations of unusual wealth accumulations by seven politicians following some newspapers and TVs reports about the unusual accumulation of huge wealth by the ministers and MPs.
Meanwhile, the ACC grilled Aslamul Haque and Abdul Jabbar in this connection.
