Speakers here on Thursday stressed on constitution of a legal frame in order to ensure overall security of the calamity-affected people across the country.
The formation of the legal frame would ensure shelter, food security, dignity and establish rights on the government resources of the calamity-prone people ….Even it will also will help identify the real victims and poor affected by the natural calamities and provide security for them, they said.
The recommendation came at a seminar organized by the Association for Land Reform and Development (ALRD) at the Jatiya Press Club (JPC) in the capital.
Noted economist and Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation(PKSF) Chairman Dr Quazi Kholiquzzaman addressed the seminar as the chief guest.
ALRD’s Deputy Executive Director Rawshan Jahan Moni gave the welcome address while its Executive Director Shamsul Huda was in the chair.
Describing the climate change impact as a global problem, PKSF Chairman said “We have to work through a coordinated approach to face the ultimate affects of the climate change.”
The climate change problems need to be addressed globally, he added.
He, however, said cutting hills and impacts of climate change are pushing people to fall prey to various problems.
Professor Dr Hamidul Haq of United International University and noted water resources expert Engineer M Enamul Haq were the panel discussants while Associate Professor Dr Abul Hossen of Green University presented the keynote speech.
