The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 on Monday set August 5 for submitting formal charge against Syed Hachen Ali alias Hasan Ali also known as ‘Razakar Daroga’.
The ICT-1 set the date accepting a time plea from the prosecution.
Monday was fixed for submitting progress report on investigation into the alleged crimes against humanity committed by the accused. But prosecutor Abul Kalam Azad informed the tribunal that they have already received the final probe report and need some time to go through the report that the investigation agency handed over to them on Sunday. Accepting the plea, Justice M Enayetur Rahim, chairman of the three-member panel of ICT-1, set the date for submitting the formal charge.
The investigation agency yesterday presented the report to the prosecution, bringing six specific charges of crimes against humanity against Hachen, alleged Razakar commander from Tarail area in Kishoreganj.
Meanwhile, the same tribunal also set August 31 to pass order whether to initiate contempt of court proceedings against now detained lawyer Barrister Fakhrul Islam, counsel for Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, convicted of his crimes against humanity.
On January 14, 2013, the first tribunal issued a rule asking Fakhrul to explain why contempt proceedings should not be drawn against him for seeking explanation from two sitting judges of the tribunal whether they had any previous knowledge about the alleged Skype scandal over conducting the trial.
Fakhrul, who is now in jail for his alleged connection with the heinous incident of leaking out a part of the judgment that was pronounced against his client Chowdhury, however sought unequivocal apology through his counsel advocate Tajul Islam on May 15, 2014.
