The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 on Monday set January 13, 2016, for submitting formal charge against 19 alleged Razakar kingpins from Maheshkhali, Cox’s Bazar.
Justice Anwarul Haque, chairman of the three-member panel of the ICT-1, set the date accepting a time plea from the prosecution.
Monday was set for placing the formal charge against the accused, but prosecutor Rana Dasgupta after submitting a progress report on investigation, sought one and a half months to submit the final probe report.
The investigation agency while probing the crimes committed by Cox’s Bazar Razakar kingpins Salamat Ullah Khan, Abdur Rashid and Maulavi Jakaria, found the involvement of another 16 people with the crimes against humanity and acting on their plea, the tribunal had issued warrants to arrest them.
Police after that arrested Salamat Ullah Khan, Abdur Rashid, Shamsuddoha, Jinnat Ali, Maulavi Osman Gani, Nurul Islam and Badshah Miah on different occasions. Of them, Shamsuddoha breathed his last in police custody on May 27.
