Staff Reporter :BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has asked the leaders and workers of the 20-party alliance to form ‘resistance committees’ at every level across the country in view of the ‘state-sponsored terrorism’.The BNP chief gave the direction in a press statement on Monday evening, signed by BNP Joint-Secretary General Salahuddin Ahmed. “Khaleda Zia has directed the alliance leaders and workers to form resistance committees in all areas and localities all over the country in view of the state-sponsored terrorism,” said Salahuddin Ahmed. Salahuddin Ahmed said that the country plunged into a state-sponsored anarchy. He, however, hoped that the downfall of the government seemed inevitable in the face of people’s spontaneous resistance. The BNP leader claimed that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina herself confirmed Khaleda Zia’s name as an accused in all the mass killings. The PM made such an announcement with an evil intention to perpetuate her illegal power and protect Awami League which has now become politically bankrupt, he said. He warned that the plot to cling to power by police would never be successful. He reminded the PM that mass killings by Rakhkhi Bahini and introduction of one-party rule Baksal could not protect Awami League from the downfall and urged her to shun mass killings, repressive acts and suppression. The BNP leader also called Sheikh Hasina to show respect to people’s demand for holding a free, fair, acceptable and participatory election under a non-party administration to ensure a stable political situation in the country.
