Present government as part of its goal to establish a modern and strong judiciary, is arranging foreign training for all the lower court judges in phases.
“We have arranged training in phases for all the lower court judges at National Judicial Academy in Bhopal, India, and already 315 judges have completed their training from there,” Law Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq told BSS.
The minister said the matter of increasing the efficiency of the lower court judges is very much connected with lessening the delay in case disposal and trial process.
Anisul further said the government completely by its own funding is sending 540 judges to Western Sydney University in Australia, for training, and already 253 judges have completed their training at the varsity. “Thirty judges have taken training in Japan by the funding of JICA and 20 judges have completed their training in China. Fourteen judges and prosecutors have been trained in the US,” he added. The minister said besides providing training abroad, judges and court officials are also being trained in the country as well, adding, “a total of 2,838 judges, 135 government pleaders and public prosecutors, 193 court staffs have been trained at Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI) from 2014 to 2018.”
Meanwhile, ministry sources said 59 judges have been provided training on e-procurement as well by the present government. “We will provide better training in home and abroad to more judges in phases in the future,” the minister assured.
Anisul Huq said the present government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is working relentlessly to establish a modern judiciary and justice system for lessening the sufferings of the justice seekers and the training of judges will play a major role to attain the goal.
