Water Resource Minister Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud urged donor countries and organizations to extend their assistance here for conducting more research on flood risk reduction and management through proper utilization of water resources.
“It will be easy to reduce risk of flood through water management, if we can ensure proper utilization of water resources,” he said this on Thursday while speaking as the chief guest at a workshop on flood management at Spectra Convention center at Gulshan here.
Barrister Mahmud put emphasis on transferring river erosion protection technology here from developed countries.
The minister urged all strata to step forward for implementation of Bangladesh Water Law-2013.
He said the water drainage system needs to be improved through building and maintenance of flood controlling embankments and structures.
