Observing that the law and order situation is a big challenge for the government, senior Awami League leader Suranjit Sengupta on Monday said the incidents of forced disappearance and abduction have crossed the limit.
“There’re two challenges for the government-one is to control the law and order situation and another to establish good governance. We must find out the quarter behind the forced disappearances, abductions and extrajudicial killings,” he said adding abduction and forced disappearance are contrary to democracy.
Suranjit said, this while addressing a discussion organised by ‘Nauka Samarthak Goshti’ at the Institution of Diploma Engineers in the city.
Referring to Sunday’s abduction of five people from Naryanganj, including the panel mayor of Naryanganj City Corporation, the AL leader said, “All are the equal citizens of the country.”
