The `Annual Inter Department Football (Male-Female) Tournament 2014′ began at Gono Bishwabidyalay, Savar on Saturday (6 September) at its own premises. Total 165 female students and 208 male students dividing into 11 female & 13 male teams from various departments participated in this 18-day long football tournament.
Professor Dr. Mahmud Shah Qureshi, Dean, Faculty of Arts & Social Science inaugurated the tournament while Md. Delower Hossain, Registrar and Mir Murtoza Ali Babu, Deputy Registrar Gono Bishwabidyalay addressed to the audience & players. Among others Professor Dr. Laila Parveen Banu, Principal, Gonoshasthaya Samaj Vittik Medical College, Professor Monsur Musa, Head, English Department, Journalist Javed Mostofa, President of Savar Press Club including Heads, Faculty members and students of this university were present in the tournament.
Four matches were held in the inaugural day. In the female matches held at morning Politics & Governance beat Pharmacy by 2-1 goals & English beat Bengali by 1-0 goal. In the male matches, Pharmacy & Applied Mathematics shared one point each for goal less draw and English beat Bengali Dept. by 2-0 goals. After ending group matches, semi finals to be started from 13 September.
