Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) would arrange foolproof security measures in all eight entry points of the port city with the deployment of adequate number of law enforcing personnel to hold the April 28 polls of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) in a totally peaceful atmosphere.
The CMP authority will set up check posts in all eight important entry points of the port city in addition to installation of Close Circuit Television (CCTV) in those entry points directed by returning officer Abdul Baten.
CMP sources told BSS that the security arrangements will be effective from tomorrow (Monday) and continue up to April 30 next aiming at preventing possible pre and post-polls violence.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of CMP Bonoj Kumar Majumdar told BSS that according to the directives from EC the authority would arrange foolproof security measures in the port city by installing check posts in all eight important entry points and setting up CCTV Cameras.
The eight important entry points are City Gate, Oxygen Crossing, Khalurghat, Shah Amanat intersection, Khathgorh, Cement crossing, Guptokhal river entry point and 15 number Jetty area.
Bonoj Kumar Majumdar said that CMP has also completed a comprehensive security arrangement regarding before and after the polls so that voters could exercise their right to franchise in a free and peaceful atmosphere.
