Police will provide foolproof security during the visit of Pope Francis, the 266th and current Pope of the Catholic Church, in Bangladesh.
The decision was taken at a meeting on security of Pope and traffic management during his visit. The meeting was held in Police Headquarters with Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Hoque in the chair on Wednesday.
Pope Francis is scheduled to come here on a
three-day visit on November 30. Pope will also visit Bangladesh’s neighbour Myanmar next week.
Terming pope’s Dhaka visit a happy and glorious occasion, the IGP told the meeting that police would provide highest security during the papal visit, said Soheli Ferdous, AIG (Media) of the PHQ.
“Police, both uniform and civil, alongside Rapid Action Battalion will be deployed in all venues as well as on the ways of VVIPs’ entry and exit,” the IGP said.
The top official of the police force also informed the meeting that activities of banned militant group will be monitored intensively during his visit.
He also ordered the police officers to carry out search activities through conducting block raids as part of security measures ahead of the Pope’s visit.
