All out measures have been taken to ensure safety for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his 33-hour official visit to Bangladesh today (Saturday) and tomorrow.
The law enforcers have been working on elaborate security details for the Indian Prime Minister and his entourage members from June 5 to 7.
Besides, street vendors were driven away from the
footpaths and cleanliness measures taken as part of greeting Narendra Modi.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) spokesperson SM Jahangir Alam on Friday said: “We have taken a lot of preparations, including identifying those who are staying in the hotel. We will deploy enough forces to ensure three-stage security besides his (Modi’s) own security measures.”
“Dog squads will be deployed in every venue and some special routes. Moreover, Check posts will be built if needed,” the police official said.
DMP Joint Commissioner (operation) Mir Rezaul Alam said: ‘We will take necessary measures for assuring the VVIP smooth movements. We will control the critical spots in the city.”
“Cop members have already conducted several exercises as part of their preparedness. Holidays of the officials of DMP and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have been cancelled,” he said.
Meanwhile, RAB spokesman Mufti Mahmud Khan said, “Narendra Modi is the prime minister of a large country like India. So we are taking extra measures.”
“Along with the RAB members, bomb disposal teams will be ready at the venues. RAB teams on motorcycles will also patrol the areas,” the elite force official said.
