Staff Reporter :Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia on Saturday said, they have taken foolproof security measures in Dhanmondi and other parts of the city ahead of the National Mourning Day (Monday).Although there is no particular intelligence report of possible subversive activities, police have beefed up the security arrangements in the wake of recent terror attacks in different parts of the country, the DMP boss said.Addressing a press briefing at Russel Square in the city’s Dhanmondi, the DMP boss also placed a set of directives for ensuring security and traffic management in the area from today (Sunday).A good number of police check posts will be set up in and around the main venue of the programme at Bangabandhu Bhaban on Dhanmondi Road No. 32 in order to ensure full proof security, he said.According to instructions, vehicular movement will be restricted from Russel Square to Metro Shopping Mall and no vehicle will be allowed to park between Kalabagan Playground and Sobhanbagh mosque on Mirpur road.Mourners will have to wait around Kalabagan Playground until the VIP and VVIP visitors pay their tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi starting from 4:00am on August 15.Visitors, without any combustible substance and bags, have to enter the museum through a security archway and leave through the opposite way, he said.He also requested people not to carry any bag, sharp weapons, firebox or any inflammable product while visiting Bangabandhu Bhaban to pay tributes to the late President, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.On the fateful night in 1975, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was assassinated by a group of misguided army officers. His wife Fazilatunnessa Mujib, sons Sheikh Kamal, Sheikh Jamal and Sheikh Russell and daughters-in-law Sultana Kamal and Rosy Jamal were also killed in the bloodbath. Sixteen more people, including Sheikh Fazlul Haq Moni, all close to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, were shot dead in the sensational incident.
