The vigilance officials in plain clothes caught Beauty Begum red-handed while accepting Tk 50,000 bribes from them in a ‘trap,’ Nasim Anwar, an ACC Director told The New Nation on Wednesday night.
He said Beauty Begum has long been involved in ‘bribery trade’ misusing her power. She was arrested from Tejgaon food godown in Dhaka.
“We are preparing to file a graft case against her with the Tejgaon Police Station,” he added.
Meanwhile, the ACC officials on Wednesday paid surprise visits to the head office of Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh (CAAB),
PWD Bhaban and Tejgaon Land office as part of ACC’s ongoing campaign to root out corruption from the government offices.
Separate ACC teams went to these government offices in the morning to probe the corruption allegations in purchase, manpower recruitment, project implementation and service delivery there.
During the visits, they talked to the high officials in the offices, collected documents and questioned concerned officials and talked people who came to the offices to take services.
