Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam has said that billboards could be installed with permission from the authorities concerned and as per rules.
He was speaking at the reception ceremony of the newly-elected Awami League Office Secretary Barrister Biplob Barua organized by Bangladesh Buddhist Federation at Dhaka International Buddhist Bihar in the city’s Badda.
He said, “Adverse impact of billboard and posters in the city make people frustrated.
So the leaders, activists and organisations have to cultivate places in the people’s hearts.”
“It is true that billboards are not illegal in the city. All political activities and advertisements, including billboards, should be set up according to the rule,” said Mayor Atiqul.
He said, “Biplob Barua is an honest, skilled and devoted young man. None can be a leader without being able to win the hearts of the people.”
“Biplob Barua did not display posters or billboards to ruin the city’s beauty. Thus he won the people’s hearts,” Atiqul said.
Biplob Barua said that the country developed when Awami League came to power as equal right of everyone is respected.
He said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s policy is to surge ahead with all the people irrespective of caste and religion.”
