Amid much enthusiasm and furor, Chandpur Rotary Club observed its 50th founding anniversary on Friday evening at a gorgeous function held at its own Rotary Bhavan premises in the town.
In this connection, a -day- long programme was chalked out that included rally ,river cruise, according reception to two distinguished personalities, giving financial assistances to five poor people to build houses and cancer patients and also induction of five new members.
The 50yrs’ celebration function and the 46th Installation ceremony of the Club’s new Executive Body for 2020-2021 were held on the Rotary Bhavan premises in the evening.
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni was the chief guest in the celebration function with 50yrs’ Festival Committee’s Convener Kazi Shahadat in the chair.
Past Rotary District Governor and Chattogram University’s teacher Prof Dr Toiyyab Chowdhury and Chattogram Division’s PDB’s Chief Engineer Matiur Rahmanwere the special guests on the occasion.
KaziShahadat, outgoing President Sk Manjur KaderSohel, Outgoing General Secretary Adv Sharif Mahmud FerdousShahin , new President Nasiruddin Khan, new General Secretary Advocate Nazrul Islam , Club members – Dr Pijush Kanti Barua, Prof GolamMostafa, TomalKr Ghose, Khorshed Alam Kanchan among others spoke on the occasion.
Two distinguished personalities- eminent photographer of 1971’s Liberation War and valiant Freedom Fighter Shahabuddin Majumder and Writer and essayist on ”Aged/Elderly People’s Affairs and Problems in Bangladesh” Hasan Ali were given crests and accolade certificates.Beside, five destitute people of Chandpur were handed over necessary amount of money for building dwelling houses and a serious cancer patient was given financial assistance for treatment.
